Let The Christmas Baking Begin!
Each year I bake 4-6 different kinds of cookies (and end up making double or triple or quadruple batches of each) which I use for gift giving. I get holiday trays then fill them with a variety of cookies to give to family and friends. Here's a picture of a sampling of trays that I use:
The first of December, I always make a list of the cookies that I want to make, then start gathering the ingredients when they are on sale and I have coupons to add to the sale prices (helps make the cookies a little less expensive to make!). There are always coupons in your papers for the grocery stores, plus you can get additional coupons at cbuz.com -- you can click on whatever type of coupons you're interested in, then check them out and print whatever you want.
I usually start my baking early so I won't have to do everything the day before the Christmas party, or Christmas day, etc. I've posted information that I use about "quick and easy ways to store cookies" at our SewingBusiness blog -- trying to get baking done as well as all the sewing and craft gift items made can be a little tricky, and by using the various methods to store cookies, I find it much easier to get everything done.
PS - check back a day or so before Christmas to see how I've filled up those trays. NOTE: I have 12 of them to fill for this years' gift giving, so I think I'll be spending a bunch of time in the kitchen!

So what are the 4-6 different types of cookies that you make?

Hi there! Thanks for asking. This year I'm making the following cookies / bars:
Special K Bars -- these are called "hogs" because everybody makes a hog out of themselves eating them, and every year I was asked if I'd made enough for them to take some home, so I started adding it to my gift "plates" so everybody could take some home!
Chocolate Chip Brownies -- When my kids were in elementary school, no matter what was going on that teachers asked for kids to volunteer to bring a snack - mine ALWAYS said "I can bring chocolate chip brownies". I can make them with my eyes closed and no recipe to follow - that's how many I've made.
Waffle Iron Cookies - also known as "turtles" because they have a similar shape as a turtle, and the little bit of frosting on them looks like the shell.
No Bake Cookies - quick and easy to fix and everybody seems to like them.
Chocolate Crinkles -- chocolate cookies that are formed into a ball then rolled in powdered sugar -- when baked the cookies spread out and separates the powdered sugar in areas and makes them pretty cute.
Mini Cream Puffs -- everybody loves these and no matter how many I put on the plate, they always wonder why there aren't more.
There you have it! Want to come help me bake???? Considering the number of gift trays I'll be doing, I could always use some help.
