GREAT to hear from you! Hope you're doing well! And you are absolutely right with your thoughts on life insurance. Our son had made the comment that usually people have an insurance policy to cover funeral expenses, etc, so had suggested that we do the pre-paid funeral arrangements, cancel the high priced insurance policies and put some extra cash into a money market savings (or wherever you can get a tiny bit more interest) just to have a little next egg for those unexpected things that may pop up at our death.

Comment on Tell Me Again The "Advantages" Of Term Life Insurance!

Hi Sarah,

I've been putting your articles on my new site. BTW...do you have an archive of them anywhere? (I had a lot of them on All Things Frugal, but I sold that site).

I don't know if you wanted an answer, but about the term life insurance. We are facing the same thing. The problem is that insurance is meant to be temporary... and not a savings vehicle.

Young people can pay under $100 a month for a million dollars of coverage, as compared to around $600 a month for the same amount of coverage with a group life insurance policy.

You are suppose to save the difference. You will come out ahead investing your money. Group life is a major ripoff.

However....it is when you start too late that you have problems. You are right...the premiums skyrocket when you get to age 65.

Don't mean to upset you. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for asking. This year I'm making the following cookies / bars:

Special K Bars -- these are called "hogs" because everybody makes a hog out of themselves eating them, and every year I was asked if I'd made enough for them to take some home, so I started adding it to my gift "plates" so everybody could take some home!

Chocolate Chip Brownies -- When my kids were in elementary school, no matter what was going on that teachers asked for kids to volunteer to bring a snack - mine ALWAYS said "I can bring chocolate chip brownies". I can make them with my eyes closed and no recipe to follow - that's how many I've made.

Waffle Iron Cookies - also known as "turtles" because they have a similar shape as a turtle, and the little bit of frosting on them looks like the shell.

No Bake Cookies - quick and easy to fix and everybody seems to like them.

Chocolate Crinkles -- chocolate cookies that are formed into a ball then rolled in powdered sugar -- when baked the cookies spread out and separates the powdered sugar in areas and makes them pretty cute.

Mini Cream Puffs -- everybody loves these and no matter how many I put on the plate, they always wonder why there aren't more.

There you have it! Want to come help me bake???? Considering the number of gift trays I'll be doing, I could always use some help.

Comment on Let The Christmas Baking Begin!

So what are the 4-6 different types of cookies that you make?
